Hey guess what? My company has a blog. And guess who is tasked with running it? Yours truly. I am now officially a corporate blogger. And no, I won't link it here. It is barely an itty-bitty-baby-blog and it runs on WordPress. I kind of like the WordPress platform except for the fact that the web design company who set it up, totally fucked it up. So I don't have RSS links and other cool widgets because the theme editor won't work. And my sidebar is a mangled mess. But guess what? I don't really care. Not my job to care. My job is to make sure there is fresh content on the blog on a weekly basis and comment moderation.
I knew there was a reason to all this blogging business. Now all I need to do is make sure I don't mess it up. It kind of sucks to have to show a post to 5 other pairs of eyes before it goes out to the world. But I believe that my captivating writing style and a complete avoidance of sarcasm will get me the free pass to do whatever I want in the end. Because seriously, who wants to fact check a boring corporate blog right?
But just you wait and see. I will turn that blog into my own private Davinci Code.
I keed. I keed.

Neighborhood Donkey - WWYD?
I finally got some poker play time this weekend when we played at Bobby's house for our neighborhood monthly game. I don't think I've cashed in one of our games in about 6 months. And not because I've been playing poorly. Anyway, first game ended pretty quickly for me after a hand that I am still not sure about. It's not my knockout hand, but it set the stage:
We were down to 6 (from starting 7) at my table and blinds were 75/150 (starting stacks 3K). I had chipped up nicely with several good plays and one well timed bluff. I was UTG with AKo and raised to 400. CJ two to my left flat called, which means to me she doesn't have a premium hand but could also have any two cards. Then Dave two her left shoves for around 1400 more. I really didn't know what to do. CJ had less than that left, so even if I call, she can't re-raise. So the pot right now is 75+150+400+400+400+1400=2825 and I need to call 1400 so getting 2-to-1 and potentially getting another 1200 in there if CJ calls as well.
I didn't think about it for too long and decided to call. I had over 2K left so I guess it was an easy call. What would you do?
Anyway, CJ called as well and showed 65s (whaaaaaa????). Dave had AA and the fantastic flop was AKx so even if I saw the flop all the chips would have gone in. I lost the hand and survived until we were at 200/400 and then jammed A8o and got called by AJo and was out.
I went home and did some work but then I came back when they were down to three. We started a second game with only 8 players. We decided to pay top 2 and then Chris busted quickly (14 beers will play with your judgement) we let him buy back in for half the chips. LOL.
I had one awesome hand were I busted two players. I was in the SB and got KK. Dave was UTG and just limped in. When it folded back to me I decided to raise 200 more (blinds were 75/150) because I didn't want to lose anyone. Tim in the BB called as did Dave. The flop was QT2 rainbow and I quickly checked. Tim bet out 1000 into the 1050 pot and Dave agonized before calling for the rest of his chips. When it got back to me I jammed and after some agonizing Tim called as well. He held AQo and Dave had QJo. I showed my Kings and knew this was not going to end well. Turn was obviously an Ace. What else is new in my world? I yelled at the dealer to give me that Jack and sure enough it showed up. Booooooooo-ya!
I went on to chop with Paul after playing three handed forever. I had a massive stack and kept doubling the shorties. Very frustrating. Then Bobby shoved for the umpteenth time and I called with 33. He had 88 and I turned a set to knock him out. We chopped right after that as we had similar stacks and it was past 2am.
It was fun to play well again. I don't think I made many mistakes. My bluffs worked, my image was good and nobody could read me all night.
I had a great hand in the second game against BrainMc. It was early in the game and since it was the second game it was limp-a-palooza time. BrainMc limped UTG, which actually scared me, but by the time it got to me there were 2 others in the pot. I limped as well in late position with QJs and got a wonder QQJ flop. BrainMc bet out, got a fold and a call before I called as well. Next card was a 3 (I think) and BrainMc bet out a big amount and got Bobby to fold. I wasn't sure if I should shove or flat call, but since my jam would have been a min raise anyway I went with it. BrianMc called and showed QTo. The board paired 3s on the river but that didn't help him and he was left with scraps. I didn't get his bounty. I just did the dirty work.
So, what would you do with the AKo hand?

Bush & Israeli Mossad
Since it's election day (in which I can't participate, yet I still have to pay tons of taxes, go figure) I would like to escort the bumbling idiot in the white house out of his current job and into the wonderful world of guest speaking (that is, if he can actually put more than two words together to make a meaningful sentence) for $50K+ a pop for the rest of his life with this little joke:
After numerous rounds of 'We don't even know if Osama bin Laden is still alive', Osama himself decided to send George Bush a letter in his own hand writing to let him know he was still in the game.
Bush opened the letter and it contained a single line of coded message:
370H-SSV-0773H
Bush was baffled, so he e-mailed it to Condoleezza Rice. Condi and her aides had not a clue either, so they sent it to the FBI.
No one could solve it at the FBI so it went to the CIA, and then to MI6.
Eventually they asked the Mossad (Israeli intelligence) for help.
Within a minute the Mossad emailed the White House with this reply:
'Tell the President he's holding the note upside down'
Go vote like your lives depended on it!
