All kinds of stuff I thought I would just mention here. Might be a good read, but probably not.
1) Yesterday I attended an IT summit and it was pretty dull for the most part. but once again I was stunned at how much pokery goodness there is out in the world. First example came when the CIO talked about one of his VPs and thanked him for taking on a tough task. He said this VP might show up for good or bad reasons and the only way to know was to look at his face. Since he has no "poker face" to speak of, you will immediately know if you are in for it or not. Then the keynote speaker gave an interesting strategy for the smaller players in an industry, called "The Puppy Dog Ploy". There are some interesting comparisons one could make to short stack play, but that would be too deep of a discussion for this type of post. Anyway, the idea is that the Puppy Dog, instead of going into a tough dog fight with the Top Dogs only takes small nibbles of the market share and doesn't get into trouble. Oh, hell, just read the MIT article and be done with it. The point I was making was that the speaker said at one point that if the puppy wants to attack the dogs on their turf he is probably already "drawing dead". So both of these made me snicker.
2) I read somwhere that the Bellagio Cup III main event starts today and is going to be a very tough tournament. I had previously read some criticism about the Bellagio and the WPT going head-to-head with the WSOP ME. But now it makes complete sense to me. They are going to get all the Day 1 bustouts to play in their event. Guaranteeing that all the non-US pros who made the trip to the ME will want to try their luck at the Cup. That would be a nice check-raise right there by the Bellagio. Nice hand, sir.
3) This just came in the mail. Wimbledon pic of the day:
4) I think David Singer was right and Harrah's is wrong. I think they should refund his entry fee at least but I think that letting him play again would have been a mistake. Who does he think he is? Vinnie Vinh?
5) The count is in for the total number of entries. Does the total number include Vinnie Vinh buying in, getting a refund and then buying in again? Does it count all the stacks that were taken out of play because the people who pre-registered did not actually finish the registration process and didn't show up to play? Maybe this is a case for some of you poker detectives out there in Vegas.
6) KajaWife is going out with the girls tonight and tomorrow night so looks like I am going to play the Mookie and the RiverChasers events where I can keep applying my over-aggro style early and late in the MTT blonkaments. I keed, I keed.
